Red Sun Yoga Teacher Training Program
The popularity of Yoga has exploded in the United States over the
last ten years, creating a great demand for qualified yoga instructors
that can not only teach yoga classes safely and effectively, but
instructors that have an in-depth understanding of the ancient teachings
of yoga and their relevance in the world today.
The Yoga Teacher Training Program is a 200-hour certification
program in Hatha Yoga that qualifies the candidate to become a
Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. The program
is designed for those who plan to teach traditional Hatha Yoga, incorporate yoga into a health-related
career, or for those seeking to deepen their personal
practice and understanding of yoga.

Curriculum
The training is a balance between theory and practice. Candidates
will learn Hatha yoga postures and how to teach safely and effectively.
Classes will also address specialty populations.
In addition to classes in Anatomy & Physiology, candidates will
learn about diet and nutrition, meditation and deep relaxation
techniques, pranayama or enhanced breathing techniques, and will also
study Raja Yoga, the yogic study of the mind which deals with the
philosophical foundations of yoga.
Yoga Alliance Standards Category Definitions
Technique: Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and
other traditional yoga techniques. Hours include both training in the techniques and practice of them.
Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle: Study of yoga scriptures (Yoga Sutras, etc.) ethics for yoga teachers, "living the life of a yogi", etc.
Anatomy and Physiology: Includes both physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and
astral, energy, subtle anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.).
Teaching Methodology: Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/ correcting, instruction,
teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, and the students process of learning.
Practicum: Includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught
by others. Hours may be a combination of supervised and unsupervised.

Requirements
The candidate must be in good health and prepared to embark on a
physically and mentally rigorous course of study. This program requires a great deal of time, energy, dedication and commitment.
The following textbooks will be required and must be read prior to starting class:
Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries, Susi Hately Aldous
Science of Breath, Swami Rama Rudolph Ballentine, M.D. and Alan Hymes, M.D.
Hatha Yoga Illustrated, Martin Kirk, Brooke Boon, Daniel DiTuro
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, translated by Sri Swami Satchidananda
Yoga Mind and Body, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center
There are no academic prerequisites.
Candidates will be given reading and written assignments and will
be expected to develop a daily practice of yoga, meditation, and
pranayama. They will be required to attend at least one regularly
scheduled Hatha yoga class per week at Red Sun Yoga.
The candidate must pass the several written examinations and
practical examinations in which the student will teach a yoga class to
other students. In addition to passing the examinations, an overall
attendance rate of 90% or higher is required to receive certification.

200-Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training
12 Week Program
Consists of two 5-Day Sessions with Jeannie Laslo, ERYT
Spring 2010 Class
First Session - Wednesday, January 27 through Sunday, January 31, 2010, from 8 am to 7 pm
and
Second Session - Wednesday, April 21 through Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 8 am to 7 pm
plus
11 weeks - between sessions - with Red Sun Yoga Faculty
Alternating - Fridays 7:30-9:00 pm and Saturdays 1 to 5:30 pm
First Session - Students will complete:
Technique - 30 hours
Philosophy-Ethics-Lifestyle - 10 hours
Anatomy & Physiology - 5 hours
Teaching Methodology - 5 hours
Second Session - Students will complete:
Technique - 25 hours
Philosophy - 10 hours
Anatomy & Physiology - 5 hours
Teaching Methodology - 5 hours
Practicum - 5 hours
Between Sessions - Students will complete:
Technique - 65 hours - includes evaluations of 10 Red Sun Yoga Classes
Practicum - 5 hours - Observations of 3 Red Sun Yoga Classes
Teaching Methodology - 15 hours - Research Paper & Presentation - Co-Teaching a Red Sun Yoga Class
Anatomy & Physiology - 10 hours (non-contact)- Reading and Written Homework Assignments & Final Exams
Philosophy-Ethics-Lifestyle - 30 hours (non-contact)- Reading and Written Homework Assignments & Final Exams

Tuition
The fee is $2,500. This covers the entire course of study. The tuition includes: lectures and classroom instruction, teacher training manual and complimentary Hatha for Beginners-Level I classes during the entire raining. The full tuition must be paid before the first class or a payment plan option can be arranged with a 5% service charge.
Registration
It is recommended that the teacher training application be completed, which is on line or at the studio. Applications must be submitted and approved before submitting the $500 non-refundable deposit. Once the application has been approved, the deposit may be placed by check or cash at the studio. Reserve your space as soon as possible, since enrollment is limited, or you will be placed on a waiting list for the next scheduled class.
Deposit and Application
Class Size is VERY limited. Your application must be submitted and approved before submitting your non-refundable $500 deposit. It is recommended that you submit your Teacher Training Application to reserve your place as soon as possible, or you will be put on a waiting list for the next scheduled class, since enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. Once your application has been approved you may submit your $500 deposit by check or cash at the studio.

About the Teacher Trainer
Jeannie Laslo, MA, ERYT
Jeannie received her BA in Psychology and MA in Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance and is certified in Hatha and Raja Yoga through the Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco where she was also a course instructor and mentor for trainees and new teachers.
Jeannie has taught yoga, fitness, and wellness in variety of settings. For over fourteen years. She has worked in hospitals and with chiropractors and physical therapists, has developed corporate wellness programs, and has taught in yoga studios and resort spas in Orlando, Colorado Springs, and San Francisco. Jeannie works extensively with various health care providers to develop a holistic approach to wellness that is based on prevention and optimal recovery.
As founder of Red Door Yoga, Jeannie created a space where people could build their yoga practice based on their individual needs, abilities, and limitations. In addition to teaching classes and courses at Red Door Yoga, Jeannie taught at the University of Central Florida where she developed a minor program in yogic studies.
Jeannie has been a full-time yoga teacher since 2002, and currently lives, studies, and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Much of her practice is based on private yoga lessons in which variations and modifications to poses are used to address the specific needs of the client. Jeannie owns and operates One Door Yoga, "Yoga for Everyone" in San Anselmo, California. Jeannie travels twice a year to Florida for Teacher Trainings.
